Dr Bunini GAHUNGU
Bishop Dr. Bunini a Rwandan pastor brings a wealth of experience at working with NGO’s,
charities and aid agencies locally, nationally and internationally.
He established and founded Evangelical Gilgal Church, Kigali in 1996 and in 1998
Association Miséricorde. College Miséricorde provides education to a group of 100 orphans
and vulnerable children and the school is run by Dr. Bunini through the Association
Miséricorde. Dr. Bunini has inspired several self-help groups for widows, orphans and AIDS
victims in Kigali.
Dr. Bunini is currently the President of the Alliance Evangelique du Rwanda (AER), the
Rwandan equivalent to the Evangelical Alliance. Holds the position of a Board Member of
The PEACE PLAN, RICH and RIC. He is the National Facilitator of Micah Network and World
Evangelism Alliance for the reduction of poverty. Micah Network and WEA are at present
working toward the Sustainable DEVELOPMENT GOALS; to End Hunger, Achieve Universal
Education, Promote Gender Equality, Reduce Child Mortality, Improve Maternal Health,
Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria & Other Diseases, and Ensure Environmental Sustainability and
Develop a Global Partner
Bishop Gahungu Bunini founded Action of Evangelical Churches for the promotion of Health
and Development “AESD” in 1995 as a means to promote sustainable holistic development
in Rwanda through the evangelical churches and was Country Director until 2006, at present
he is their Legal Representative and Executive Director. AESD trains laypeople through
workshops, consultations and initiatives to facilitate peace, reconciliation, health and
development projects throughout the country. Building the capacity of local churches to use
available resources for effective service to the community is an integral part of AESD’s
training.
Dr. Bunini earned his Masters and Doctorate in Theology, at the International Graduate
School of Ministry in Bellevue, Washington State, USA. He is also an author and presents a
weekly Radio program nationally that discusses HIV/AIDS issues and prevention
charities and aid agencies locally, nationally and internationally.
