Media

Currently, foreign Media continue to tell the African story in a distorted manner with false and mainly negative reports about Africa. Given these realities, the complete, appropriate, accurate and true stories of the continent need to be told by the sons and daughters (African).  Africa is not made up of ONLY bad things, as the western media has almost succeeded in portraying it. For example, enough stories are not told of how Africa is endowed with serene sceneries and rare species of animals for tourist attraction, a substantial arable landmass, a market of over one billion people, a young, energetic and dynamic population that have the potential to transform her positively. Instead, only depressing stories are told, leading to African themselves believing that there is no hope for their future on the continent.

Thus the media influences the minds of people and eventually their belief systems. Therefore, the Church in Africa must strategically use it to spread dignified societal values, messages of hope for humanity and reach out to all people with the good news of Jesus Christ, our Lord's love and saving power. As the Bible clearly says, so should we be as a church of Christ "You are the salt of the earth; You are the light of the world; A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.
